Hello
I want to know about the difference between normal AC capacitors and power factor improvement/correction capacitors.
The question arises in my mind because normal capacitors are rated in micro/mili Farads whereas power factor correction capacitors are rated in KVar.
Can anyone tell me what is the basic difference.
Thanking You,

Re: is normal AC and Power factor correction capacitors are

They have been specially designed for engineers who don't know how to calculate capacitance values from kVar.

You means that are for the engineers who don't know about
C = 1000*KVAR/(2*Pi*F*(V^2))
where KVAR = KVAR rating
Pi = 3.14159...
F = operating frequency (Hertz)
V = AC operating voltage (RMS)
am I correct?
