Is antenna an active or passive device?

Re: ANTENNA

antenna is a passive device because it doesn't need a power supply for it to working... but the processing of the data received by the antenna might require power supply....

Re: ANTENNA

yeah we use booster to boost the signal the antenna receives.... you gotta understand that the booster is not a part of the antenna but just something which follows the antenna which is used to amplify our input weak signal....

BOOSTER IS AMPLIFIER? THEN WY WE ARE TELLING BOOSTER? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOOSTER AND AMPLIFIER

Re: ANTENNA

booster has to vary its gain and hence limit its signal level to a particular limit as required by the television.... whereas in the case of amplifier the gain is constant....

in short booster is a amplifier with AGC...

OOO THANK YOU

ANTENNA

Antenna is a passive device

it is a hunk of metals which is just used to transmitt one type of signal to another type ...

electrical signal coming to Airborn signals (waves)
(at Xsmitter end)
And Vice versa at reciever end.

so its basically a tansducer ( which converts one type of enery to another type)

if need can attach or can give some details about antennas...
