I am trying to build a full bridge rectifier using MOSFETs. These are my specs: 130Vac-220Vdc, 100W. I hope to use SIHF6N40D as the MOSFET.
Could anyone tell me if I can use IR2110 to drive this H-bridge rectifier? I have seen a lot of tutorials and guides where IR2110 has been used to drive inverter circuits, but not rectifier.
What frequency is the rectifier to operate at?...is it mains rectifier, 50hz?...if so, then I think the bootstrap cap of your ir2110 may end up discharging too much during the relevant period...you could make the boot cap bigger, but then itll be a high amplitude current spike refreshing it.
If it's at 50/60Hz it may be worth considering an optocoupler based driver instead. It avoids the bootstrap problem treez mentioned and the gate drive current should be much lower anyway.
It may be possible to drive the LED side from rectified incoming AC and avoid the need for a control circuit altogether.
