Hi experts,
I want to make a fabric centering device. If I want to use IR transmitter and receiver,
which type should be used? Any idea which photodiodes will get more range?

No detail information .... No value at all.

So "fabric centering" .. What fabric? What distance to sensor? 1mm or 1m?
How precise "centering" do you expect? micrometers, several millimeters?
For fairly accurate (10s of um) centering I would use a "line sensor". https://www.hamamatsu.com/us/en/pro...os-image-sensor/line-sensor/for-industry.html
I've seen them used in textile production.


What range? Angular or distance? (usualy: narrow angle -> wide distance)

Please elaborate your question. A sketch could be very helpful.

Range depends on the lens magnification or inversely the beam angle with loss proportional to 2x distance squared times peak current, times reflectance ratio but depends on the rejection of interference.

Your question presumes far too much.
