ir emitter circuit

Hello,

I want to build the basic photogate trigger circuit as shown on this site:

https://www.hiviz.com/tools/triggers/makeown.htm

However, I want to use a 6V lantern battery instead (needed to run an actuator) of the 9v they have.

Can someone help me with the proper resistance values I'll need since I'm using 6V vs 9V? The photodiodes I'll be using are the dreaded radio shack version (276-142).

Also, will I need that 10k Ohm resistor between the 2n2222 and the SCR since I'm using the power for an actuator versus a camera flash?

Thank you
John
