Hello,
Just wondered if anyone knows of a sync Buck converter (preferably from linear.com) which has facility to interleave with 8 other same controllers?
(ie, each one switching 360/8 degrees apart.)
Spec for each buck is:-
Vin=24v, vout=1.5v, iout=12A (each), ton(minimum)<200ns,
(so the entire, collective output is 1.5V & 8*12A)

The most common six-phase converters are from Intersil. At least the circuits I've seen up close.
The ISL6398 can be cascaded for up-to 24 phases.

I adapted one of my simulations to your specs. It just so happens that the duty cycle is short enough so it can be rotated through the 8 converters, one after the other.

A 4017 IC (1-of-10 counter) is all it takes to rotate pulses to 8 buck converters. Each turns on for 12.5 percent duty cycle. Total output is 1.5V, 100A.

The switching frequency does not need to be as slow as I have it, of course.

This is vastly simplified from your specs. Nevertheless it is interesting as an experiment, to observe the waveforms, and current levels, that might be expected.

Hi,

With Brad's solution to generate 8 pulses...you could add 8 synchronizeable buck converters.
