Interfacing 8051 with l297/l298 pair

i need some c source code examples to interface 8051 with l297/l298 to control the acceleration and deceleration of the stepper motor as i cant seem to get anywhere with the formulas i got from the avr446(http://www.atmel.com/Images/doc8017.pdf)
