Interfacing 40mv to 400mV analog signal from a sensor to a MCU over long distance

Hi All,

I have a current sensor that output 40mV to 400mV DC voltage when 1A-40A current flow through it. I want to interface it to a comparator and the distant between them is 5 meter. Can I just connect both together using 5 meter wires or I need to use some kind of interfacing technique?

Use a direct cable connection. Two wire twisted and shielded cable is preferred as protection from external interferences. The shield can serve as a guard, keeping external fields from coupling to the signal leads. The signal cable shield must be connected to the zero reference potential on the comparator side.
