interface with sound card

i need to write a c code for plotting(drawing) the data (signal) of the sound card
whether this data comming from mic or playback.

how can I access the sound card?

I need source code or algorithm for commincating with sound card.

labview have good functions
also u can use all dll &active x& MFC and ... .
in addition labview have a good example for sound
card to use as input.
In c programing I think u must write a dll to interface whit sound card deriver.
