To interconnect two stages, should the output impedence of driving stage be equal to input impedance of driven stage for maximum power transfer?

the input impedance of second stage should be complex conjugate of output impedance of first stage,

Yes, for maximum POWER transfer.

A simplification:

Maximum Voltage transfer;
Low output Z :arrow: High input Z

Maximum Current transfer;
High output Z :arrow: Low input Z

Balance... (maximum power trasfer);
output Z = input Z

Does that help?
