What are some easy infrared encoding and decoding schemes for avr? Is there a source code available?

it is all a bit tricky.. your timing must be perfect.. especially receiving IR.
it doesnt matter which protocol you use,,. i found RC5 the best documented.

Is RC5 scheme used on all TV remote or just sony remote?

It worth especially for : "I'm often asked the question: "What code is used by the remote controller of brand X for device Y?". If you read the rest of this page you'll notice that this is rather a silly question to ask." at the same web site **broken link removed**
