infra red receiver test

Hi,
How can I test an enfra red remote control receiver (3 pins: - + S)?
 

Do you know which receiver you have? Or is that what you're trying to find out?

The simple thing is to connect VCC and GND. Then connect a LED between signal and VCC (of course, with a current limiting resistor in series). Point the remote towards the sensor and press some buttons. You can see the LED flicker.
