Hello,

Does anyone know about language dependent speech coders? I mean a speech coding system that is dependent on a specific language. a coding system that utilizes the languages chaaracteristics instead of waveform parameters.
can you refer to any sites having material on such coders?

A very interesting concept. Although, there are a several other factors that also influence speech-coding (such as gender)

Which language are you interested in encoding, or is your question more in general?

I have attached a document that elaborates on theories of phonetic-based compression algorithms based on Indian languages.
