Hi,

I want to make 1milliHenry inductor with a Ferrite core having AL of 1200nH.
How can I do calculations?

More exactly, the AL value has the dimension nH/n², n is the number of turns.
The calculation is obvious from this property, I think.

An inductor made with an ungapped core has a rather low saturation current, by the way.

yes AL is the inverse of reluctance, scaled , i believe.

L = N^2/Reluctance.

beware some you need gapped core for one half and ungapped core for other half to get specific AL value.

for inductor design you will also have to specify the DC current and type of application you have to use it for. hence decicing the gap lenth core selection and wire selection. any adhock design is bound to give you a saturated inductor of no use or a inductor too bukly for your application

i got an interesting documents to design inductores with AL rate. i hope that useful for you.
