Increasing ouput voltage of pulser circuits

Sorry if this is a silly question.
Is it possible to connect the output of TX517 Pulser circuits to a transformer to increase the output voltage?
or generally asked how to increase the output voltage of these pulser circuits?
 

TX517 datasheet shows an application circuit with transformer output. Your choice if it's up- or downtransforming. Driver peak output current and load impedance is however limiting the transformer ratio.
 

You can also design a HV amp, transformerless, to do this, although isolation issues
have to be considered that the transformer solution has. Also transformer solution
possibly simplest to implement. But potentially costly magnetics, eg. amps in 100's of
volts range.

If this is a one off rewind a microwave oven transformer, pick one up at dump,
usually the transformers in these still good. Lots of DIY applications on web, youtube,
although most at LV.

ok thanks for reply.
What i was unsure about was if transformer would behave in the same way for amplification of digital pulses as it does amplification for analog signals. But by looking into application circuit of TX517 it looks like it is possible to amplify the outputs.
 

Transformers are pretty standard for ultrasonic transducer drivers, they limit however the signal bandwidth and are thus not feasible for high resolution ultrasonic imaging.
 

Main thing you have to be aware of when driving a transformer is core saturation, which will be an issue if you apply only unipolar pulses. Adding a large DC blocking capacitor should help prevent saturation (depends on the specifics of the cap, transformer, and pulse shape).
