Is there a simple way to impiment a LED so it would fire only when the load is connected to the circuit?

Hi,

Maybe use a shunt in the power supply line.
Depending on load current and resistor value you get a voltage drop.
Use this voltage drop to activate a LED. Either directly, or with an amplifying bjt.

The 41v power supply constantly sources ~3.5mA regardless if load is attached to circuit.

Hi,

Impossible.
The load is 1mOhms with a series resistor of 1500 ohms...this should give about 27mA at 41V.
