Why not look at the pickit 2 from Microchip.

I used ICD2 from Microchip but I feel it a little bit complex compared to other brands.

Absolutely, the ICD2. Reliable, quick and easy to use, they are available used for $50-$60 on eBay.

All others programmers I already used, displays either :
> a ProgreeBar, proportional to memory burned into program,
> a percentage number indicating remaining memory to be programed or already programed.

However, ICD2 show only a bargraph growing multiple times, unrelated to amount of data sent to uC.

Interesting, to be honest I've never noticed. I'll have to run some tests with a few different programmers I have here.
