If you are interested in the PIC24 series, the Lucio Di Jasio book is good "Programming 16 bit Microcontrollers in C".

Its very nice book.
nice share..i studied some topic from here,these were good to make understand for every beginner theoratically.
but the problem is that ,the examples are not given in C language.
otherwise the good ideas are given in this book for each topic.

Thanks Thesuperwan, as far as programming microcontrollers is concerned, i think its not the language that is the core issue, but its the understanding of modules inside that is important.
