Hi

How a floor planning important before starting layouts..

The floor planning is very important before layout.

It helps you do an efficient layout that optimizes both area and power as well as saving time. You get an initial estimate of the chip area and the relative positions of the clocks with respect to each other. You can determine how the blocks will be connected, what buses are needed, where the signals will enter the block (from the right side, left side..etc). It also restricts the area and aspect ratio of each block so that each design can have a well-defined area/interface

u must clear what u want to make , take paper and pencil and make some plane

A good layout start with a good floorplan.
The advantage of floorplan are more and more:
- Estimate and optimize the area.
- Understand the correct position of each block in order to avoid to put noise block near sensitive block.
- indivuate the critical path.
- understand how you can separate the supply.

and other

Bye

you need to separate between the analog & digital block, most probably the digital is the main noise source & the sensitive analog blocks are the victim (Like VCOs CPs ,etc..)
hence these analog blocks need shielding & to be as far as possible from the digital blocks
Hope it will be useful for you
