Hi,

How to understand this statement:

The digital processing computes the root sum of the squares of the I and Q data, which is mathematically equivalent to an envelope detector?

Does it mean sqrt(I2 + Q2) only has the envelope?

I agree. Why "only" enevlope? It's a scalar quantity, it can't hold more than one information.

I think the most important characteristic is, the swings between envelopes must disappear. Can this operation support this?

Basic trigonometric relation sin²x + cos²x = 1
