Spectrum analyzer

Hi

I need some information about "on chip spectrum analyzer".
Does anyone know the history of "Spectrum analyzer" and "full on chip spectrum analyzer"?

or is there a combination of certain ICs/components that when given ultrasonic signals at the input, the circuit will give output of spectrum analysis.
