Maybe some questions in return (o;

- What controller you intend to use?
- What is the intention to use tcp/ip? Would be udp enough or even a lower layer?
- What medium you want to use? Ethernet? Or some simpler serial layer?
- Is IP networking neccessary or could another protocol be used for your application?

Sorry for these questions..but if your using a small microcontroller a tcp/ip stack might be just overkill. But if you have enough memory or even processing power then you can go easily with some ucos OS and the LWIP stack.
