I see no need to introduce oneself in an extra thread, otherwise we had 600,000 introductions in this forum.
If you have a job to offer ... or a problem to discuss, then do this in the according forum section.

And new members commonly jump right in to contribute their answer to queries in existing threads. (Example, see the list of New Posts, or the list of Latest Activity.)

And Edaboard provides each member with a space for a personal blog.
