I have a circuit as shown below. i Have shown only the relevant parts in the diagram. ( i haven't shown things like oscillator resistance etc in the diagram).

So problem is that the decoder receives data properly and it actuates a relay based on the data input. But when the relay turns on it stops receiving signal. The valid signal indication goes off. And relay stays on till i restart power.

It sounds like you are spiking the supply and crashing something but with only half a schematic it could be numerous things. Please post the whole diagram and if possible also post a photograph of your construction.

Brian.

Is there any load driven by the relay contact ?

Show decoupling capacitors across MCU, +5V power supply and +12V

Hai. the capacitors placed are as follows.
a 2200mf capacitor Before 7805 regulator.
470mf capacitor across output of 7805 and gnd along with 100nf capacitor in parallel.

their is 100nf capacitor across HT12D, RF Reciever.

Across relay i have a diode and a 100nF capacitor.

i changed the circuit a bit by switching to a 5v relay. So now their is no 12v used in circuit ( except as input to 7805 ).

one more thing i noticed is this. It stops recieving signal when relay turns on, but when i just turn off the power ( that is when it starts to discharge capacitors) it receives signal for a second or two
