how to use the nangate opensource library for the design compiler

Can any one help me out with the steps that are to be followed to use the nangate open source library in the design compiler.

Which searching the database of the downloaded nangate files I was not able to find any .db or .sdb or .sldb files. So how to use the existing .lib files for the synthesis in the design compiler

Run Library Compiler (lc_shell). Use read_lib then write_lib -format db
