I hope, u must have tried the ds1307 circuit connection to a microcontroller.
Try to place 32768hz crstal as close as possible to rtc(ds1307) chip.
Program the microcontroller such that it establishes the interconnection through I2C. Read i2c in philips website for details.
Also connect a 3.6v battery.
Once connection is established,I think after initial $07addr the remaining area is user ram data storage segment .
Accessing a particular address is possible by sending that addr, and then reading the value using read routines in I2C. and then subsequent value can be automatically retrieved when we use a callback loop.
