How to test IP core for full functional verification?

Hi all

I got a working IP core for 16C554. Now since am new to verification, I need to know how to test this core for full functional verificaion.

what all tools i'll be needing for it,

I have Xilinx ISE, Modelsim, r they enough or do i neeed any other too

Testing IP core,

to have to a better estimation of the verification quality, you may need add assertions for the functional features, also you need ask help for some advanced guys to review your test plan. The tool is not a big deal, but the way how to use them is.
