i have installed the CENTOS 5.

OS is working perfectly but the only problem is that the mouse cursor is sticked in the left side of screen.
it is moving up and down i mean vertical but not moving horizontal.
first i thought may be problem of installation but that is not because it happens again after re-installation.

can anyone please tell how to solve this freaky problem..??

thanks to you all...

Adab! The said problem is miner as far as i know from my experience. the problem is with the mouse not the OS. Take out the ball from the mouse and clean the rollers well by your finger nail or some thing else. and that is all.

but my friend, that i have checked mouse in all possible ways.
there is not problem with mouse.
someone said there may be problem of driver of mouse.
but as i am newbie in linux. i am not able to solve this problem.

can anyone please help me to solve it..

Thanks to you again..

I think almost of usrers use opto-electrical mouse.

I had met this phenomenon and now there is no this

happened because I changed the OS version.

I think it may be the compatibility between OS and

hardware of your computer.

Please confirm the CPU whether or not support 64 bits. If x86_64 CPU run under x86 OS, unpredictable symptom will appear. For example,
CPU of my computer is AMD sempron which support
x86_64, I install X86 Redhat FC3, the screen will be dark when first start the computer and directly select the Linux OS.
If I first select Windows OS and restart the computer it can work normally.
To solve this problem, I install X86 FC4, FC5 but this
symtom still reserves. After some time, I replace the X86 linux with RHEL4 4U4 X86_64, this phenomenon disappears.
Of course, the display card may be another cause.

you are right but if problem is OS compatibility then it should effect to all hardwares..!!!
but in my case its affecting only mouse rest of everything is working alright..
even i am using internet also fairly.

ye i have changed my mouse two-three times,
even tried for USB and PS2 also.
but still problem is not solved yet.

Then I have no idea. I thought it could be perhaps a problem with a specific type of mouse for that you may need a special driver.

Perhaps it could be a hardware error at your computer?
Have you tried the mouse functionality with other OS at the computer?

You can try other Linux distributions easily by using their live CD’s.

What is your video card?
