Hi all

I have this FM radio transmitter and exciter I want to buy, but I'm a novice at these things so could you help me please???

www.qei-broadcast.com/products/broadcast/transmitters/1000e.php

That's the product.

Now the questions:

Is this all what I need to broadcast on the FM frequency (87.5 to 108 MHz)?
What the range that I'll get if it was 1000W?
What is the difference between the "Exciter" and the "Transmitter"?

THNX any way

Re: FM Broadcasting????

Another question:

Is there any equation that I do to know the range of transmition?

Re: FM Broadcasting????

Your real problem will be legal. In all countries you need government permission to set up a broadcast station and in many countries they never give it to individuals.

Re: FM Broadcasting????

Don't care about that
I'll take care of it, but I want to know how to make a station before I get the permition.

Re: FM Broadcasting????

You will also need a place to transmit from, feeder cable, an antenna and perhaps a mast or tower to put the antenna on.

The hight above ground of the antenna and the local geography make a big difference to the range. You will get more coverage from the top of a mountain than the bottom of a valley.

That's natural to need a place to transmit from :D ,but:
What is feeder cable?

I need an aproximate evaluation for now
How many watts do I need to transmitt in a range of 30-60 Km?
Theoretically speaking

Re: FM Broadcasting????

Feeder cable is a coaxial cable. You should use 50 ohm cable able to transfer 1kW of power at 100MHz.
Coverage depends on transmitter power, antenna gain and hight of antenna above the terrain. Power of 1kW with antenna gainof about 10dBi can be enough for range of 60km.
If you want to transmitt stereo modulation you will need a stereo coder or stereo generator like model 710A DIGITAL FM STEREO GENERATOR from the same QEI company.

Re: FM Broadcasting????

Thank you Borber for replying

Can I put any antenna and have the required range or what exactly
www.pcs-electronics.com/87108-1000w-p-916.html
www.pcs-electronics.com/dipole-871941000w-p-918.html

Are these OK

Or this:
**broken link removed**

Power of 1kW with antenna gain of about 10dBi can be enough for range of 60km.

OK, what is the height for this one
OR can I get perhaps less power and more height for the same range..

Because this product is high priced (13000 USD)
so I may settle for less power if I can manage

Also can you give a formula to work to get the required range?

Re: FM Broadcasting????

Dear mushaima,
there in no way you can make a FM transmitter project this way, over the forum. All you can get are some approximate answers.
