audio restoration

Hi dear friends,
I need to know something about signal restoration. i have some distorted audio samples by severly filtering and background noise and i need to restore them by matlab. can anyone help me to know about common practical methods that exsist. can the LPC method for representing the spectral envelope of a digital signal, help here?
