There are many reset schemes available on a uC, and different effects on internal SFR due to each one. You should specify what exactly do you expect form that restarting.
Perhaps the cleanest way to reach most of the requirements of an acceptable system restart, is just to temporarily enable the Watchdog (if not yet used).
