I'm sure you could figure out some way to make that work but I don't think it would be easy. If you're okay with having a sensor on your hand sometimes people will put flex sensors like this in a glove.
There is a type of flexible conductive foam made to embed IC's in for safe storage. A Forrest Mims notebook suggests the stuff can be used as a pressure sensor.
Not sure you'll find an off the shelf item much cheaper than that. However I did find this instructable that helps you make your own with conductive bags.
