while soldering i always come across with a problem that is my soldering wire gts stuck to the soldering iron due to which the solder gts stuck in the soldering iron instead of going into the hole ...........CAN ANYONE tell me how is SOLDERING DONE in a proper way............?????

Re: soldering

May be the pads on the holes have come out due to multiple time soldering and removing.

Re: soldering

1. Make sure the iron tip is clean and shining
2. The pads should be clean and preheated

Always put the tip of the iron on the pad before applying solder in order to preheat it. Then, with the tip and pad in contact, melt the solder over the pad.

If u still have problem, use a soldering paste or flux.

Re: soldering

Dear Friend,

1. Always use flux, and pre-heat it, as it spreads out the solder uniformly.
2. tip of the solder should be clean and shining. shake off what ever solder is left out on the solder rod after soldering.
3. if solder fails after 2/3 time always use "De-solder" to remove traces of previously executed soldering.

always make the tip of the iron clean...put it on the hole then apply the wire till it melts....don't put the wire first, the iron should be first ;)

Re: soldering

A little basics:
Solder alone WILL NOT stick to copper! Flux is always required. You can sometimes repair a joint or add a wire because there is sometimes some left over flux unless you clean it.

There are several types of flux in use right now including: Rosin, no-clean, and water soluble. Flux basically works by cleaning the surface as it burns up. The surface will oxidize immediately again so the solder has to be there to flow WHILE the flux burns up.

Most electronic solder has a core of flux. Make sure you are not using solid (fluxless) solder, you can use it, but you must add an external source of flux. Either way, ELECTRONIC flux paste or liquid added can help if your joint is slightly dirty.

ACID CORE SOLDER OR ACID FLUX PASTE WILL RUIN AN ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT!!! It is meant for plumbing and pipe joint soldering ONLY!!! The left over acid not only will corrode all the metals in the joint, but conducts in any kind of humidity.

You need to put the iron on the joint touching both pieces to be joined, then touch the solder to the JOINT not the iron! That will allow the flux to flow into the joint before it burns up. Never "carry" solder to a joint on the iron tip, the flux will burn up before it gets there.

Re: soldering

hi dear;
u must get the following done before u get started:
1) clean the iron n make sure that the tip is cleaned. if not let it heat and then clean it.
2)always use flux. it will help u to cope up wiyh u r problem.

3) most important : use good quality iron.
