you can use ponyprog programmer software available as free on
www.lancos.com.
where you also find hardware diagram for programmer.
note : just 3 manths before i used it at that time i found that itsupports
16F877 & 16F877A,but ponyprog unable to program 16F877A.
so use 16F877 only.

Hi,
You must cpecify what You whont, or what You don't now. To write program for pic micro you may use many language, perhaps you are a begginer, my advice is use a "basic" for pic. If you use basic for pic, wtrite code in MicroCode studio (download free in www.mecanique.co.uk/code-studio). You must download MicroCode Studio and PBP Pic Basic Pro compiler.
The best book for pic programming in Basic you may download free on www.mikroelektronika.co.yu.
Then, when you write the code you must translate in HEX format and put this file in pic micro with programmer conected on you's PC via com or lpt port. The best programmer for pic micro (free) is ICProg with schematic from Olimex (www.olimex.com/dev/) PIC-PG2C.

Use MPLAB(freely downloadable from www.microchip.com) software to write the code in assembly. HiTech pic c compiler to write the program in c language(it can be integrated into MPLAB).
If u have already written the software and want to program the chip then use winpic800 software with JDM hardware.

why not try EPIC programmer- it can prog almost all of the PICs. may come in handy when u plan to other PIC later on when ur already bored with that.
apart from that, PICBasic PRO compiler is heard to be the best and easy to program too... good luck... i just started myself... CHEERSSS..!!!
