How to make an AC current source?

One option is to use (adjustable) DC current source inside a bridge .. see attached example ..
However, this circuit only limits the output current (in both directions) and, in fact, is similar to the idea of a dc current source ..
Is this what you are after ???

I have to generate 1KHz 1A (peak to peak) ac current from DC.
