zero crossing detector optocoupler scheme

Hi friends

Do anyone know how to make a zero crossing detector of constant amplitude that doesn't depend on the source.

to be used as an input to a Pic interuppt to start a certain event

Please Help if you can

hope this helps in a way...

Re: Zero Crossing Detector

This design is very cool,
yeah, nice ideea,

PS another solution is to use a simple optocoupler for 0 crossing detector. At the input stage you need an resistor and a dioda, and at the output only a resistor. This method is not acurate like traxonja presented above.

Re: Zero Crossing Detector

Hi,

The most basic design scheme is to use a fast comprator like LM311 with dual supplies (+ve and -ve), then set the comparator +ve I/P to a two similar ersistors (10kΩ say) to compare the signal voltage with a true 0 volt. I prefer that u set one of the two resistors as a potentiometer to acheive a true 0V.

Hopt this helps.
