Hi all ,

my pc has only 2 com port ( rs232 ) , is it possible to convert it to 16 ports ?
i have heard something as NPORT , what is this ?
does this device do that ? and if do how would windows know it ?
for example if i use NPORT and install it's driver , then i will see 16 COM ports in hyperterminal ?

Thanks ,
& Best regards.

If you have unpopulated PCI slot you should consider multiport cards such as for example from RocketPort: https://www.comtrol.com/products/rocketport.asp
In this instance you will "see" all COMs in Hyperterminal, and other Windows-based applications, as COM1, .., COM15 ..

i know that there is an emulator for such porpose - emulates the COMx port.
u can connect between each 2 ports on the program.
with this emulator u can work in hyper termunal with 16 COM ports.

unfortulently i don't remember the name of this emulator/driver.

try to search @ google.

Good Luck

do you need 16 ports? what for?? anyways, if you do really need 16 serial ports on your computer, try to get pci serials ports...or try to use usb to serial ports, and use usb hubs if deem necessary
