hello everyone
can i directly interface an lcd to an avr?
what is HD44780?is it an lcd itself or any other chip?
thanx.

Re: lcd display

Its a Chip... made by Hitachi.
The chip is a driver for alphanumeric lcd, and the controller just simply 8-bit data, R/W, and other.
The connection is depended on how you will use the driver, u can use 8 bit data stream or just 4 bit.

lcd display

Many LCD modules use HD44780 as its control chip.
I think we can directly connect the LCD module to microcontrollors.
