Hi,
google "modelsim download", you'll find the mentor site. Then, if you are a student you can ask for a evaluation version.

The installation directory should contain these files
1) .........baseinfo.tar.gz
2) .........docs.tar.gz
3) .........examples.tar.gz
4) .........modelsim.exe

run ./modelsim.exe
next gunzip and untar each file, these steps create modeltech folder and all the installed programs are in the folder modeltech
