How to get the default value of static variable in C?

In C the default value of static variable is zero, how we are getting it.

The compiler links in 'Start up code'.
The start up code initialises the system, such as static variables, global variables, constants, etc.
The start up code is usually a small assembler module which you can modify if you need to.
