Design methodology

I have question on ic design methodology. I read several book on how to design circuits or systems. the book explained on basic methodology that i need to follow. the question is, let say my project in 0.18 technology, how to get all cmos parameters like µ, λ, Vth, Φ and etc. Right now, I just randomly change the W and L and check the simulation result. For your information, I am doing the project using Mentor Graphic.

Re: Design methodology

You need to include the BSIM model files for your technology.
I am attaching the BSIM level 49 model files for NMOS and PMOS in 180nm tech.
This file would have all the required parameters like Vt, lambda etc needed to model the submicron transistor.

I have used this for Tanner Spice, but I'm sure it would be compatible with Mentor as well(provided it supports BSIM level 49).

you may extract the parameter from the layout.
In fact ,some parameter was included into the library.
you may read the library file.
