How to double the clock rate of an PFGA?

Hi..i have a working fpga which works at 1Gb/s speed which is used in a product on pci card... how do i make that speed even higher like 2G,4G..etc ... i mean we make some design implemented on fpga and chip it out ... so is there a way to make it?

Which FPGA are you using? What parts of it are you now running at 1 Gb/s?

Some FPGAs have 10 Gb/s serial ports.
