How to detect signal on telephone line using microcontroller?

How can i detect signal on telephone line ( use for both pulse and tone dial) use MCU ?
May anyone give idea to me ?
and diagram, tutorial, ...?

Which signal do you want to detect ?
ring signal?
voice ?

I'll suggest...

1. If you want to detect the DTMF and dial pulse,
there are some commerical chips can do this job.
You can search in google...
2. If you want to detect the ring signal,
you may use high voltage zener diode to detect the ring signal...

Hope it will help you....
 

Telephone line ???

Did you searched on Microchip web, they used to have a good reference.
