4017 as frequency divider

Dear all:
How to design a frequency divider(divider number=7),which is used in a pll. This is a new topic for me, so any advice and circuit architecture is welcome!

based 4017 frequency divider

One option is to use 4017 counter and configure it as "By-N-Divider" .. see picure below ..

if u want 50% duty cycle, first divide by 14, and then divide by 2

For me it looks like you will divide this signal by 28 ..

i suggest first divde by 3.5 then divider by 2
