Re: power bus width

EM and IR drop is important
In our company's IP, ADC DAC and PLL's IR drop should lass than 10mV.

Re: power bus width

electric migration(average current) : normally 1mA/um
IR drop(peak current)

power bus width

Hi all,
Can some one explain or share document on what is electromigration and IR ?
Thanks.

power bus width

IR -- IR drop.

you can search on the web for the definition of electromigration.

sometime you also need to take into account of the self-heating.

power bus width

On the topics of Electromigration You have a description in Your Technology Manuals.
(at least UMC013 and TSMC018 Manuals have a section about the topics)
Or use the Bible ! ;-))
(Hastings: The art of analog layout)

May I ask what is the technology that You use ?

Re: power bus width

electromigration is one of the topics that is important to understand in IC design. a lot of books and sites that discuss what it is. you can also refer to the friendly wikipedia.

Re: power bus width

use 1mA/1um ,and use top metals for pad connection ,metal width should be at least 4? .
? = 2 * technology

power bus width

1mA per um, leave sufficient margin

Re: power bus width

For power and gnd don't use minimum width in according with electromigration rules.

Bye

Re: power bus width

Width of Power Metal line depending on Electro Migration(EM) and IR Drop.
These EM & IR depend on process and technology. The current density and resistance are different for diferent metal.
