how to create a basic technology file?

Hi guys,

I am a beginner for the layout, now I have a layout database *.sf from the foundry, I need to transform it into an layout library in the Virtuoso layout editer, I use the Import-->stream in, but I lack a techfile *.tf(I have no one in hand), so can anybody tell me how to create a basic techfile which contains what is important and neccesory.
Another question is that should the layer number in the technology file be the same as that in the DRC and LVS rule file?

you can modify the demo tf file by yourself ,it is not very diffucult. normally after layer number, grid and other necessory information are modified, the tf file can work
as for your second question
it is necessory, otherwise, the tool can not tell the layers.
but the layer name can be different,

Can I get any layer information such as the layer number from the *.sf layout database?

Added after 1 hours 22 minutes:

How can I know the layer number from the *.sf supplied by the foundry?
Is it enough that I only write the layer definition? I mean whether the device definition, layer rules, physical rules, electrical rules are necessory?
