How to connect stepper motor directly to a DC source to test it?

hi ppl.....
im working on a project which deals with a stepper motor.... in the first step i want to test the working of the motor...so i need to connect the motor directly to the dc source instead of interfacing it to a micro controller....so i need some help from u all as to how to connect and how to work in order to find out the step angle and other stuff.....so pls help me...thank u..

take a look at this link, it tells you how to identify and test the stepper motor. Once you have identified the type you can connect it across a power supply to test step size etc.
