How to check if and how fast is a packet going through LAN?

How to know ?

Please help me,

i want to know:
1. the data packet go through the LAN
1. calculate the time for data go through the LAN, the respone time

do you need a network simulator software?
I yes you can use "network simulator" software!

Use ping, this is going to give you response time.
