Hi
I am a beginner in the VLSI layout design and confussed in the lambda based rules. For example if I have a 0.5u CMOS process based rules, how the Width of PMOS and NMOS transitors are derived?

lambda rules,

Hi

Lmin = 2* lambda

W/Lmin specifies the design
W is calculated by designer.

Other DRCs are based on lambda.

The design alignment is also may be in Manhattan method.

lambda for pmos

This lambda and the lambda in mos current equatuins are same or different?

They are two different.

lambda in layout is
Lmin = 2* lambda

lambda in mos current equation is
Channel length modulation factor
This lambda is related to 1/VA
Where VA is Early voltage
