Hi,
Any guy having idea about MCU code protect.
Please tell me how much secure is protected code in MCU.
Some one told me that the MCU chips are being unlocked by some professionals and hex file can be copied even MCU is code protected
.
If any body having idea about this plz tell me,
wether it is true or false.

Thanks,
Raj.

Re: MCU Security Lock

use a more secure microcontroller! (you get what you pay for)

That is the only way.

MCU Security Lock

i dont know its tru or false ..... but what i know is this is illegal

Re: MCU Security Lock

have heard that usually such a process is done by writing some kind of boot loader read in code section (destroying some of main code) of main following a reset vector, also it depends on how you code.

MCU Security Lock

I have heard different story about unlocking - by undervolting it, so it still works works, but can trip and flip a lock bit. Don't know how close to reality this story is, and I never tried it - never had need for it.

Re: MCU Security Lock

Hi

Maxim ,Atmel,Intersil - have special IC for protecting micro controller software

You can use this IC to protect your hardware & software

All the best

MCU Security Lock

Iv heard that Hax0s do it. :D

Ok ... i believe unlocking is for reason. The reason is encryption key.

For example iv heard that satellite TV decoders were working on PIC MCUs old ones. So... to decode signal .. to see TV, You need insert ar RFID card with key on it.

To replicate a card you need encryption algorithm.

But i guarantee that beginner C language MCU programmer cant do it. Bigger threat is assembly language programmer with expensive ICD tool.

Everything is hard before it is easy.
I believe if you v can find a hax0r who can tell you how protection precisely works, you can ask him how to break it. Remember everything is weak if you can find weak spots to push.

MCU Security Lock

I have seen that "www.break-ic.com" does every chip what we spell as it is listed in thier website. But not tried them..Cheers

MCU Security Lock

I bet microchip is testing future product prototype chips at " www.break-ic.com " by mailing SDIP in envelope and waiting for a reply.
